ODE TO HARRISON PLAZA

Since 2007 when I started returning home multiple times per year, Harrison Plaza has been a routine presence in my daily activities when in Manila. Less than five minutes on foot from my condo in Legaspi Tower, I would go to Harrison Plaza almost everyday for one reason or other. I would even cross over from Rizal Stadium during halftime of a football match to grab a takeout lunch or dinner from the McDo.

One could find just about anything at Harrison Plaza. In 2010, I wrote this - "A block away is Harrison Plaza, Manila's first shopping mall, hosting a conglomeration of shops and eateries offering traditional Filipino to western fast-food, and the full range of the Philippine shopping experience where you can do the groceries, barter for your local cell phone, sing some karaoke and get a massage from the famous blind masseurs/masseuses all in one short trip." I have found no other shopping complex like Harrison Plaza anywhere. Stepping into Harrison Plaza was like stepping into a time taking you back into the 1960's.

I have consolidated all of the photos I have taken at Harrison Plaza over the years, organizing and categorizing them, hopefully to serve as a visual archive in memoriam of a unique and special place...
